More than 20 million of people have chronic kidney diseases, where patients experience gradual deterioration of kidney function and the ultimate end result is kidney failure.

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs found in vertebrates. The kidneys play vital roles in body, not only by filtering the blood and getting rid of waste products from your body, but also by balancing the electrolyte levels in the body, controlling blood pressure, and activating the production of red blood cells. Then blood flows through the kidney, sensors within specialized kidney cells. Kidney helps to regulate the quantity of water to excrete as urine, along with what concentration of electrolytes. In case a person gets dehydrated from exercise, illness or not drinking sufficient water, your kidneys will hold on as much water as possible and this way urine becomes very concentrated. When you have sufficient water present in your body, the urine becomes more diluted, and the urine becomes clear. Dilution of urine is controlled by renin, a hormone that is produced by the kidney.

Some of the symptoms that you might be suffering from kidney issues are urge of urination frequently, tiredness, blood in your urine, urine is foamy, ankle and feet is swollen, cramp in muscle, poor appetite, trouble in concentrating and sleeping.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD), also called chronic kidney failure, describes the gradual loss of kidney function. Although chronic kidney diseases is not curable, but treatment can help to relieve some of the symptoms and prevent conditions from getting worse.  Complications that are associated with CKD are anemia, high blood pressure, nerve damage, weak bones etc. When chronic kidney disease reaches an advanced stage, dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes can build up in your body. In the early stages of chronic kidney disease, you may have few signs or symptoms. Chronic kidney disease may not become apparent until your kidney function is significantly impaired, ultimately it might require dialysis or kidney transplant. Treatment for chronic kidney disease usually focuses on slowing the progression of the kidney damage and improving the condition of the kidney by controlling the underlying cause.

Kidney stone is one of the common problems associated with kidney. Kidney stone is formed when the urine has higher level of minerals and salts. Kidney stone usually starts small and grows larger and fill the inner hollow space of the kidney. Sometime stone can be lodged in the ureter and blocks the urine flow from the kidney and it can be painful. Kidney stones may be of different types like Uric acid stone, Calcium stone, Cystine stone. Calcium oxalate is the most common type of calcium stone.  Uric acid stone are most common when the urine is much more acidic, due to several conditions like type 2 diabetes, gout, chronic diarrhea, being overweight or diet rich in animal proteins. Some of the symptoms of kidney stone are sharp pain in lower abdomen, groin and back.
